A solicitor who “took advantage” of his position at the law centre where he worked by privately charging immigration and asylum clients ineligible for legal aid has been struck off. He charged clients a total of £8,000 on a private paying basis while working at the Gloucester Law Centre.

Partner struck off after settling PI claim for £5,000 then paying client £60,000 in fictitious damages

A partner has been struck off for dishonestly settling a personal injury claim for £5,000 without instructions, telling the client it had settled for £60,000, and then paying out the fictitious damages from unrelated client accounts.

SDT has mercy on “immature” solicitor who lied about law degree to secure job interview

A solicitor who described her behaviour as “immature, foolish and wrong” in lying to a potential employer has been suspended by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. She upgraded her law degree from 2:2 to 2:1 in order to get an interview with the Army Legal Services.
