Former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd has been made an honorary Vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) in recognition of his support of and close association with the Institute.

CILEx vice-president Millicent Grant gave evidence to the House of Lords Constitution Committee in March during an inquiry on judicial appointments.

The CA’s white paper, Modernising the home moving process, sets out the results of the association’s research and consultations with conveyancing stakeholders across the industry, in the UK and abroad, to identify the constraints in the home-moving process and the solutions employed in other jurisdictions as well as the CA’s own vision of how a future technology supported process could operate.

The body representing chartered legal executives has called on the profession to end discrimination against lawyers who have qualified through non-university routes and open up the senior judiciary to those entered the law by alternative means.
