Lawyers have experienced a worrying level of bullying and intimidation, according to a massive international study, while diversity policies have failed to help women achieve equality in legal practice. It also found significant discrimination existed against women in the well-paid commercial law field, slowing their advancement.

Law Society set to recruit “harassment advisers” to protect staff from bullies

The Law Society’s ruling council will today consider whether a network of “harassment advisers” should be set up to crack down on bullying at Chancery Lane.

One in six solicitors have experienced bullying, Law Society research finds

Around a sixth of practising solicitors – and a quarter of those working in-house – say they have been bullied in the workplace, according to a survey on wellbeing in the profession. Almost one in five of solicitors suffer from severe stress or worse, the figures also suggest.
