DG Legal

DG Legal [1]DG Legal [1] is the largest provider of strategic and compliance services operating in England & Wales.

Established in 2000, we have 26 leading consultants who have either worked as gamekeepers or are acknowledged as a leading authority in their area of expertise.  We have experts who have worked for and with the SRA, The Legal Ombudsman, The Law Society, CILEx and the Legal Aid Agency.  We have helped more than 1000 firms ranging from Sole Practitioners to ‘Magic Circle’ firms.

Our consultants have trained hundreds of assessors for The Law Society (Lexcel) and the Legal Aid Agency (Specialist Quality Mark (SQM)) and our experts continue to train the assessors for Recognising Excellence who hold the licence to audit the SQM.

We have a 100% success record with SRA authorisation applications, Lexcel assessments, SQM audits and CQS applications.

We are designers of Compliance Caddy, a best in class cloud-based practice management software that reduces the time that the COLP, COFA and Practice Managers spend on compliance, GDPR and training administration.

We make a real difference in helping firms to:

We also provide thought provoking on a variety of practice management topics, for example, Anti-Money Laundering and advise on effectively working with other experts and relevant parties (websites, Google, accountants, insurers etc.)

DG Legal has also advised politicians and government departments (The Home Office, The Cabinet Office and the Welsh Assembly Government). One of our consultants has recently spent a two year period acting as a Commissioner in Lord Bach’s review of the Justice system ‘The Right to Justice [2].’

We have a sister company – Lester LLP [3] – that provides advice and assistance to major UK and US charities on providing strategic advice to their grantees. Examples include the Legal Education Foundation, Unbound Philanthropy, Comic Relief, Big Lottery Fund, the Baring Foundation and Princess Diana of Wales Fund.

We also founded a pro-bono project in 2012 – LegalVoice [4] – an online magazine about ‘access to justice’. It is aimed at legal aid law firms, the not-for-profit sector and all organisations providing publicly-funded legal advice in the UK.  LegalVoice [4] holds regular conferences in London and other cities. Our conferences have been hosted by Allen & Overy [5], Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer [6] and DLA Piper [7].
