The importance of getting it right before the FCA

With the Government’s announcement in November 2025 that AML supervision of solicitors will move to the FCA, as well as the SRA continuing to fine firms for noncompliance, now is the time to review your policies, controls and procedures (PCPs) and make sure they are up to date. The pace of change is significant, and it is a real challenge to keep up to date;
- The Legal Sector Affinity Group (LSAG) guidance was revised on 23 April 2025
- The SRA issued its revised Sectoral Risk Assessment on 31 July 2025
- Changes to the Money Laundering Regulations (MLRs) came into force on 30 June 2026
- LSAG is drafting changes to the guidance
- FATF’s High Risk Countries list changed on 19 June 2026
- FATF Mutual Evaluation Report take place in 2027
