Perpetuities and Accumulations – a refresher
Recorded on: 14/07/2021
- The significant changes made to the law relating to perpetuities and accumulations on 6 April 2010 is now nearly 10 years old. One of the things which those new to the subject of trusts struggle with is the fact that changes to the law of trusts are often not retroactive so any change may apply going forward but not always to existing trusts.
- This webinar will summarise the provisions of the Perpetuities & Accumulations Act 2009 and how it affects trust practitioners and draftsmen.
- Participants will be able to address what changes may be required to existing Wills and trusts, how to advise existing trustees in relation to the rule against perpetuities and receive practical advice for drafting future trusts.
- The rule against perpetuities & accumulations
- Pension schemes
- Powers of appointment
- Class gifts
- Drafting considerations
