Compliance: Transparency Rules, SQE and the SDLT holiday
Available from: 11/03/2021
The first in our twice-yearly compliance update from Trevor Hellawell will focus on the issues that the SRA has been focusing on and changes it has made as a result.
The regulator has been pushing hard to ensure the profession learns the lessons from inspections it has conducted to check compliance with AML rules. It has also begun sanctioning firms that have failed to comply with the transparency rules. We continue to see a number of questions arising from the accounts rules, while the new route to qualification, including the Solicitors Qualifying Examination, is now only a few months away from going live.
This webinar will also consider other matters of concern to the profession, such as the implications for practice of the extended SDLT holiday, due to end on 31 March.
Topics to be covered include:
- SDLT holiday extension and implications for home moving
- SRA investigation of AML procedures
- SRA enforcement activity over transparency
- SQE update
- Solicitors’ Accounts Rules update
- Covid considerations
