Stephen Allinson

Stephen has specialised in credit, debt, restructuring and insolvency work since 1987. Prior to setting up his own consultancy, he was a business recovery and insolvency partner at a major law firm heading up a 50-strong team.

He pursues many other projects in the legal, insolvency and credit fields, and is a tutor at the University of Law.

A solicitor and licensed insolvency practitioner, he was previously an associate member of the Association of Property and Fixed Charge Receivers. Stephen was appointed chairman of the board of the Insolvency Service in January 2017 and is also chairman of the Joint Insolvency Examination Board.

In addition, he is chairman of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management’s assessment board and a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives’ education and standards board.

His book, Enforcement of a Judgment, was published by Sweet and Maxwell in 2016. Stephen has contributed to books on business and commercial property law, and been involved in two leading insolvency texts for practitioners.

In 2019 he became a consultant to new litigation funding company Apex Litigation Funding, which aims to develop cutting-edge models to assist both lawyers and insolvency practitioners.
