Sarah Lucy Cooper

Sarah Lucy Cooper is a family law barrister at Thomas More Chambers, specialising in complex children and financial cases with a strong international dimension. Called in 1993, she brings more than three decades of experience to high-stakes disputes involving cross-border child arrangements, Hague Convention matters, relocation applications and financial remedy cases with overseas assets, trusts and foreign matrimonial regimes.

A Family Recorder since 2018, Sarah is also a qualified mediator and family arbitrator (children and finance), and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. Fluent in Spanish, she regularly advises on matters involving Spain and Latin America and conducts mediations and arbitrations in Spanish.

Known for her clarity, rigour and calm authority, Sarah is praised for her “fearless” advocacy and ability to explain complex issues with precision. She writes and speaks widely on international family law and was a finalist for “Barrister of the Year” at the Inspirational Women in Law Awards 2023.
