Higgs: lawyers can really start to make a positive difference to the traditional dictation/transcription model

Legal Futures Associate TikitTFB [2] has announced a strategic partnership with LegalDocs UK to provide an integrated digital dictation solution that combines speech recognition, document assembly and document management.

LOASys (Legal Office Automation System) now seamlessly integrates with Partner for Windows, speeding up the dictation process, whilst dramatically improving document production quality and turnaround times. The system combines:

Breeze & Wyles Solicitors has recently implemented LOASys to work with Partner for Windows and are already starting to see the benefits. Practice manager Martyn Bateman said: “The system has great potential. For firms who have a heavy reliance on digital dictation, LOASys will provide substantial productivity gains by quickening the transcription process and the allocation of files in Partner for Windows.”

Partner for Windows already offers integration with other leading digital dictation providers and the addition of LOASys will provide clients with an even wider choice of digital dictation solutions to suit all types of budgets, requirements and working practices.

Terry Ewell from LegalDocs UK said: “LOASys fills in the gaps using the human voice rather than keyboarding in the production of documents, even within case-managed matters. Attendance notes, statements, contracts etc., as well as correspondence, can be dictated and returned to the author often within seconds.

“This ‘insourcing’ option frees fee-earners and support staff from the drudgery of typing, reducing costs and increasing document turnaround times 24 hours a day, every day. We at LOASys are extremely pleased with this tie up with TikitTFB and the offering that we can now make Partner for Windows users.”

Richard Higgs, TikitTFB’s sales director, added: “Speech recognition hasn’t had the best of reputations in the legal market, with many of us recalling the days of seeing text appear on the screen as we spoke. With LOASys, the recognition technology converts the speech into text as a background process, thus enabling the user to dictate in exactly the same efficient way as he would using normal analogue or digital dictation.

“With the added functionality provided via the integration with Partner for Windows, our clients can really start to make a positive difference to the traditional dictation/transcription model still used in most firms today.”

LOASys is available to all Partner for Windows users; however, those who use Case Manager can benefit further from the integration.
