Barker Gotelee implements DirectLaw to give clients online access to legal expertise

Leading Ipswich law firm Barker Gotelee has implemented DirectLaw [1] from Legal Futures Associate Epoq, giving family law clients convenient and easy online access to a suite of legal services, including divorce documents and pre-nuptial agreements.

The service has been introduced to enhance the firm’s comprehensive range of legal services.

Partner Nicola Furmston said: “The introduction of DirectLaw will allow us to offer our family law clients a more convenient service, without losing the personal touch we are committed to providing.

“Through the system, a suite of legal services is made available to our clients directly from our website, which they can access from the comfort of their own homes and at a time that suits them. When the clients complete our online questionnaires, a first draft document is created instantly, saving us time and improving efficiency. One of our family law solicitors can then review the document and amend it if necessary before advising the client of the next steps. We believe giving our clients choice in how they access legal services is the way forward in providing excellence in customer service.”

DirectLaw gives law firms an online capability, which enables them to both improve practice efficiency and fulfil client demand for easy and convenient access to legal services. The system is very easy to implement; in the case of Barker Gotelee, it was up and running within two weeks.

An online document web page is created by Epoq and then linked seamlessly to the firm’s website, from where clients can access the services available. Designed for flexibility, DirectLaw can be used to enhance the firm’s client engagement process, whether by phone, face-to-face or online. Furthermore, firms have complete control over how they price the documents on offer and can even bill and take payments online. A comprehensive consultancy and training programme is also available to help law firms integrate the solution into their practices and maximise the opportunities it affords.

Epoq founder Grahame Cohen said: “In an increasingly competitive marketplace, many forward-thinking law firms such as Barker Gotelee are taking proactive steps to make their firms more efficient, accessible and attractive to new clients. DirectLaw has been specifically designed to help law firms achieve these objectives and to ensure their practices continue to thrive in the future.”
