Gateley bolsters HR offering with £3.4m acquisition

Jenkinson: Natural next step for T-three

Listed law firm Gateley has hit the acquisition trail once more, spending £3.4m on another HR business.

It said buying T-three Group would help create “one of the largest specialist human capital consultancy businesses in the UK”.

T-three offers leadership development, behavioural change programmes, and people and management development programmes to help businesses develop their senior people and effect cultural change.

Based in Cambridge and employing 35 staff, clients include the BBC, NCP, Jaguar Land Rover, Samsung and Transport for London.

Gateley will pay £3.2 up front – half in case and half in shares – with the rest payable based on performance over the next three years.

In July 2018, Gateley bought Kiddy & Partners, an HR consultancy that specializes in leadership assessment, talent management and leadership development; T-three focuses on the last of these services.

It told investors: “The opportunity for Kiddy and T-three to collaborate, build on each business’s strengths and grow their experience collectively, puts Gateley in a strong market position to create one of the largest specialist human capital consultancy businesses in the UK.”

Gateley chief executive Michael Ward said: “T-three is another good example of the execution of our stated plan of being able to diversify our business and offer clients complementary business services that support the delivery of our legal services.”

He added that Kiddy has achieved growth of almost 37% ahead of original expectations, generating £3m of fees since acquisition.
