Law firms are starting to see the opportunities in small claims after Liverpool firm Morecrofts launched a flat-fee service, allied with unbundled pieces of advice, to aid potential claimants.
It follows the launch of an advice and mediation offer by QualitySolicitors last week, in which the network accused other law firms of being “shortsighted” in not seeing the potential for building client relationships through small claims.
Morecrofts has produced a step-by-step guide to navigate a small claim – including copies of all relevant court forms – for £150.
Customers also receive a 30-minute meeting with a Morecrofts’ lawyer to provide procedural advice and highlight deadlines.
The small claims pack provides claimants with the resources to enable them to continue their claim without any further legal advice.
Alternatively, they can opt for a range of individually priced additional services, such as completing a claim form, drafting witness statements, representation in court and enforcing a judgment.
Managing partner Alison Lobb said: “We wanted to create something that gives people a fighting chance of understanding the process and having a successful and profitable claim.
“Our guide fits that bill perfectly and coupled with the initial consultation meeting, provides a detailed and transparent roadmap for claimants to follow, whether they’re a business or an individual…
“We are aware of other firms looking at ways to shake up the small claims process but we think our guide is revolutionary in terms of client service and the level of insight it provides from the very outset of a claim. We are confident the guide will put claimants in an informed position with which to make decisions going forwards.”
