Top 50 National Law Firm Weightmans LLP [1] has recruited Kurt Rowe, appointing him as an Associate in the firm’s Insurance Team to expand the firm’s insurance proposition, adding value for clients at a strategic level.
Kurt was previously employed by Aviva, where he spent 15 years in various key roles such as 10 years in the role of Legal Counsel providing robust Defences to general and strategic litigation issues. Kurt has an extensive working knowledge of the insurance business from commercial, legal, risk, regulatory, compliance and financial crime view points and has advised regularly on such matters. Kurt’s skills extend to being able to target his advice to a particular audience whether that be a claims handler on the front line, or a senior executive director and an ability to translate legal and technically complex matters into real practical advice. His final role with Aviva prior to joining Weightmans was Senior Claims Manager in their Technical Claims Large Loss team. Kurt managed a team of large loss claims managers and led the wider claims business on technical/legal issues.

One of Kurt’s note worthy achievements was that he was an insurer representative on the Ministry of Justice Steering Group which created the original RTA portal, and on behalf of the entire industry, he led the initial contract negotiations with the IT provider creating the portal.
