Record figures for Express as the law firm looks to build on phenomenal 2023 success

Personal injury law firm, Express Solicitors has cemented its fantastic achievements of 2023 and recorded its most impressive statutory turnover results to date.

Turnover for the Top 100 law firm has been on the up for the past few years from £22.6 million in 2020, to £30.4 million in 2022. Now, the statutory accounts for year ending August 2023 show a £42.5 million turnover for Express Solicitors, with a PBT figure of £9.2 million.

Medical reporting agency, Ontime Reports, part of the Express group, also increased turnover from £5.9 million to £7.36 million.

Live cases are now at around 25,000, up from 22,000 at the beginning of last year.

Express Solicitors CEO, James Maxey said: “We had a phenomenal 2023 with developments across the whole firm. We continued our recognition as a The Lawyer Top 100 Law Firm, advancing 12 places to #80 from our 2022 position.

“Over the course of the year we consolidated our sites and moved to a 40,000ft2 office, which has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment. The offices include a gym and showers, roof garden and multi-faith room.

“We also welcomed 17 newly-qualified lawyers via our trainee programme and, with the acquisition of two fellow south Manchester PI firms in 2023, Amelans Solicitors and Jefferies Solicitors, our staff count surpassed 665 and our senior team has been bolstered by new partners.

“We’ve recently celebrated our first internally-qualified barrister and we’re continuing to develop and nurture our employees.

“But that’s not all, we’ve refreshed the brand and have been investing more in digital marketing in a mission to improve the whole client experience.

“So, while it’s no surprise all this has been reflected in the statutory accounts for 2023, it’s an amazing achievement and testament to each and every employee’s hard work.”

The Express efforts haven’t gone unnoticed elsewhere either as the firm has recently picked up a Best Law Firm award from the Modern Claims Awards and has been shortlisted at the Manchester Legal Awards in the PI / Clin Neg Team of the Year category.

Maxey added: “Our lawyers are sought after for their thought leadership and subject expertise and we’re really looking forward to continuing that momentum as we push to become the best personal injury firm in the UK and hit that £60m turnover target.”
