Returning this Pro Bono Week, the London Legal Support Trust and Access to Justice Foundation invite you to roll, pipe, sprinkle and ice for justice. London Legal Support Trust (LLST) is a charity that fundraises to support free legal advice agencies in London and the South East.
Over 100 organisations have already risen to the challenge of the Great Legal Bake and will be showing off their star bakes between the 7 – 11 November.
The Great Legal Bake helps raise funds to support people living with disabilities or illnesses and their carers, people facing unfair dismissal or discrimination in the workplace, homeless people and families living in unacceptable housing conditions, as well as women and children facing domestic violence, trafficking and labour exploitation.
In the rising cost of living crisis, the number of people needing legal advice has rocketed, and more and more people are turning to legal advice agencies for help. The work of LLST to raise awareness and funds through events and fundraising is critical to help these agencies continue their life-changing work. Together with the legal community, LLST can continue to support legal advice agencies in helping the most vulnerable to access justice.
Since the Great Legal Bake started in 2013, £150,000 has been raised in support of frontline free legal advice agencies. LLST are really proud of all the fundraising teams who take part in the bake which offers a fun way to raise vital funds to make a real difference to those who are struggling with a range of life-affecting issues.
This year, there will also be a photo competition, judged by Pro Bono Week Committee Chair, Toby Brown, with prizes up for grabs for best themed cake and tastiest cake! The Great Legal Bake brings together law professionals and colleagues and LLST support them with resources, recipe suggestions and guidelines to make each bake as successful as possible.
Whether its blondies or brownies, millefeuilles or petits fours, Black Forest gateau or Swiss roll, millionaire’s shortbread or pound cake, taking part in the Great Legal Bake is easy as pie. And if sweet stuff doesn’t melt your butter, participants can also make samosas, sausage rolls, or savoury scones.
