We’ve chosen Cancer Research UK as our charity of the year for 2019-20. When you consider the statistics around cancer and understand more about the life-saving work undertaken by Cancer Research UK, it’s easy to see why we’ve made the decision to support this worthy charity.
According to 2016 figures published on Cancer Research UK’s website [2], there were 363,484 new cases of cancer and 163,444 deaths from cancer that year in England and Wales. On the reverse side, 50% of people diagnosed with cancer will survive and survival itself has doubled in the last 40 years.
The latter is made possible thanks to the ongoing efforts of cancer charities such as Cancer Research UK whose scientific research, clinical trials and ambassador campaigns to government help get closer to finding a cure, discover new cancer treatments and secure additional government investment for the NHS.

We’re in the midst of developing a fundraising programme jointly with Cancer Research UK, and we’ve already pledged our first monies from our AGM’s charity raffle [4] to the tune of £475. We’ll announce full details of our ambitious fundraising initiatives soon. Watch this space!”
