PSG are pleased to sponsor the Eclipse Proclaim Modern Law Awards which will take place on the 15 October at the London Hilton.

The awards ceremony, now in its second year, will be hosted by writer and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth and will feature a wide scope of categories judged by an expert panel.

Set up to celebrate and identify sparkling talent and success in entrepreneurship, market development, business management and best practice in the modern legal services arena, the event promises to deliver an enjoyable evening of celebration and networking.

The evening will also include a very special silent auction to raise money for Kidney Research UK and Candlelighters, a charity which fund research into childhood cancers.

We would like to wish all of those shortlisted for an award the very best of luck.

How best to achieve independent regulation under the Legal Services Act?

Craig Wakeford LSB

Independent regulation gives confidence to consumers, providers, investors and society as a whole that legal services work in the public interest and support the rule of law. The Legal Services Act 2007 does not require all approved regulators to be structurally separate from representative bodies. Instead, the Legal Services Board is required by the Act to produce internal governance rules (IGR) which apply the principle of regulatory independence in legal service regulation. We are currently running a consultation on the IGR which continues until 9 February.
