Yorkshire’s most respected conveyancing search supplier PSG has teamed up with environmental risk information specialists Landmark Information Group to provide an enhanced flood risk report designed to help homeowners insure their properties whatever the flood risk may be.

The report will use the latest data from the Environment Agency, the British Geological Survey and flood mapping specialist JBA Consulting.

Its intelligent system can assess the risk of coastal, river and waterways flooding AND surface and ground water flood risks providing a professional risk assessment from Argyll Environmental Consultants.

With recent concerns over insurance refusals at an all time high, after the publication of the Government’s Flood-Re Scheme*, PSG and Landmark’s news will deliver hope to the whole country by delivering a solutions-based report that not only gives more data than basic flood assessments but also promotes an insurance broker that will provide a quote to protect any property against the risk of flood.

Instead of simply highlighting a flood risk the new report will confirm the ‘insurability’ of the property based on the level of flood risk in the area and will also promote ‘Insure my IIGLU’ who will guarantee to beat the lenders home insurance quote (where low risk is identified) and will always offer a quote even in high risk areas.

Denise Morgan, Director of PSG North and East Yorkshire, says:”This really couldn’t have come at a better time for property owners.

We know we have something really special here in that PSG can offer home owners a potential solution in some of the worst hit flood areas, hope that they’ve never had before. No one can beat the weather but this enhanced report mean solicitors and conveyancers across the country can now offer an insurance solution that even a year ago was questionable”.

PSG already offer their clients peace of mind from the initial enquiry right through to purchase, but what they’re now offering the legal profession and property search professionals is a way to help everybody in every area of Yorkshire and beyond.

New right to paid leave for bereaved parents: A welcome move

Kimberley Manning DAS

This year, like many in recent years, has seen some key changes within the employment law field, with the government, trade unions and lobbyists remaining endlessly engaged in seeking to impose their interpretation of fair balance between employers and their respective workforces. Although consensus on that equilibrium can never really be achieved, sometimes there are pieces of legislative movement which are difficult to argue with regardless of your perspective: This is one of those. Published on 13 October 2017, the Parental Bereavement (Pay and Leave) Bill would provide for the first time a legal right to parents who are employed and have suffered the death of a child, a minimum of two weeks’ leave in which to grieve.
