Legal workflow specialist OchreSoft has announced the launch of a comprehensive new solution for legal teams delivering Wills, Probate and LPA related services.

Intelliworks Private Client represents a significant advance on Ochresoft’s existing Probate offering. While full estate administration, probate workflows, IHT form production and online precedent library remain, OchreSoft has now added in specific case support for Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), will drafting and grant-only applications. It is now believed to be the most comprehensive package available for the private client sector; and it is certainly the only one that is completely Cloud-based, fully maintained for regulatory and STEP compliance and dedicated to the unique process and accounting demands of this type of legal matter.

Its development comes in anticipation of unprecedented change in the private client market, as OchreSoft’s Pauline Freegard explains:

“Estate administration and LPA matters are probably the last bastion of ‘traditional’ lawyering, with work largely being done long-hand with only minimal use of tools such as spreadsheets or maybe basic and unwieldy estate accounts packages. But with new market entrants coming in, and the growing threat of commoditised services and fixed fees, these legal teams are now having to look very seriously at how they can maintain the quality of their legal advice and client service while at the same time creating the efficiencies that will enable them to compete effectively.

“In our own experience, we’re seeing them start to look across at their property colleagues and eyeing up the increased productivity, compliance, collaboration and customer face-time that has come out of that team’s adoption of Intelliworks. The new Private Client module is aiming to be equally game-changing: case management across the majority of private client matters can now be hugely streamlined and sped up, delivered to a consistent and compliant standard, shared amongst the team, all to the benefit of their client – and the firm’s bottom line.”

As with all Intelliworks modules, Private Client is delivered from the Cloud on a pay-as-you use basis, negating the need for any big technical implementation or capital expenditure. Teams can be up and running in anything from two to five weeks, with all precedents and workflows subsequently updated in real-time by OchreSoft’s own legal team.

Three reasons why you should be more vigilant about the emails you send in 2018

Ben Mitchell DocsCorp

In December 2017, the Information Commissioner’s Office (reported that data security incidents between April and June 2017 had increased by 15% compared to the previous year. This is nothing new – data breaches have been on the rise for years. Yet law firms are often more concerned about protecting sensitive information from external threats than from a far more likely cause: human error. Human error was behind the forwarding of confidential plans from The Bank of England to The Guardian. The sender included the wrong recipient in the email and, ever since, autocomplete has been disabled and staff at the UK’s main financial regulator must now enter every single address manually.
