Hudgell Solicitors says the appointment of Denise Kitchener as its new national head of business development is the ‘perfect fit’ for a firm expanding its work with a passion for fighting for the rights of the people it serves.

Now in its 20th year in business, Hudgell Solicitors has built on its excellent reputation in medical negligence and personal injury work to develop a growing and successful human rights and civil liberties team, and specialist travel work representing those who suffer serious injuries abroad.

The firm, which has offices in London, Leeds and Hull, is also now one of the biggest handlers nationally of claims to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA), whilst its success in supporting victims of abuse is also winning increasing recognition.

Now, chief executive Amanda Stevens says the appointment of Denise Kitchener indicates its intent to continue growing and expanding its services, whilst strengthening performance in the key areas of work on which its reputation has been forged over the past two decades.

“Denise joins us with a wealth of experience in the markets we operate within and crucially has vast experience of developing strategies for growth in the areas of work in which we are building and enjoying increasing success,” said Mrs Stevens.

“She joins at an ideal time, on the back of our restructure last year, and after the senior management team agreed a clear strategy in terms of where our business is heading in light of the changes and challenges in the industry, but more importantly the many opportunities there are for us to take advantage of.

“She is a perfect fit for our business and we are delighted to be adding someone to our team who has spent the majority of their career in senior positions in the claims sector, developing, influencing and leading the growth of organisations.”

Denise joins having spent the past three years on the senior management board of Hodge Jones & Allen LLP, where she worked as director of sales and marketing.

She headed up the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) for over 18 years, having joined as its first full time employee in 1992. Denise helped the non-for-profit organisation gain national recognition and played a pivotal role in growing its membership from 800 to 5,000.

During her time at APIL, Denise also secured EU funding to establish a sister organisation in Europe, The Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL).

Commenting on her appointment, Denise said “I am delighted to be joining an expanding practice and looking forward to working closely with all their specialist teams, and with Amanda Stevens and Neil Hudgell too.

“The firm is well-known for providing Personal Injury, Medical Negligence and Criminal Injuries legal services and, I am pleased to be able to come in and work with other specialist solicitors too in their growing Civil Liberties and Travel Litigation departments.

“My role will give me the opportunity to promote the brilliant work being undertaken throughout the firm to support people who have suffered harm by others’ negligence or have had their human rights infringed upon.”
