McMillan Williams, a multi branch hub and network based firm of solicitors, has installed eponymous program to provide LASPO compliant time recording and costs budgeting functionality.

Omnia – an innovative online tool aimed at enabling solicitors to comply with the requirements of costs management – also gives solicitors the ability to generate bills and schedules of costs, as well as internal reports to allow firms to monitor their actual budget ‘spend’ by phase. The software is designed to integrate seamlessly with firms’ existing PMS/CMS systems.

McMillan Williams Solicitors, which operates in London and southern England, has a strong personal injury and clinical negligence practice and will be using the Omnia program across both these and its general litigation departments to enable them to manage the new costs budgeting requirements that came into force on 1 April 2013.

Colum Smith, managing partner at McMillan Williams Solicitors explained:

“MW is a best-in-class all service progressive law firm that needs a best-in-class cost management solution for this crucial time of change in the field of legal practice. We believe Omnia is the right tool to help us deal with the new costs management regime. We also needed a scalable Cloud-based solution to meet our substantial growth needs. As we continue our target to treble in size we needed a partner who could grow with us.”

James Scozzi, solicitor and Head of Costs at McMillan Williams Solicitors added:

“Costs budgeting is now an integral part of the litigation process, meaning that costs must be at the forefront of a solicitor’s mind from the outset. Omnia allows us to make this transition in a cost effective way, whilst also ensuring that our budgets are accurate yet easy to produce from the start.”

Sue Nash, costs lawyer and founder of Omnia Legal Software, said: “The reforms came into force amid a flurry of uncertainty but the reality for practitioners today is that they need to get their heads around the new system in order to benefit both their clients and their own businesses. I am delighted that we will be able to work with McMillan Williams to help them achieve this.”
