London Legal Walk rescheduled to October 5th

LLST WalkDue to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the London Legal Support Trust have made the difficult decision to move the much-loved London Legal Walk to October 5th.

Last year over 15,000 solicitors, barristers and legal professionals took on 10km through the Capital, raising over £890,000 for frontline free legal advice services in London and the South East. The biggest event in the legal calendar, the London Legal Walk, sees the entire legal profession come together to fundraise for vital free legal advice providers such as local law centres, advice centres and Citizens Advice.

LLST hope that by postponing to October, supporters will be able to join together once again in support of the agencies who need this critical funding more than ever. The free legal advice charities supported by the London Legal Walk provide vital provision for society’s most vulnerable; the individuals who are too often left without fair access to justice. The commitment to supporting these advice agencies is stronger than ever, and in this ever-changing environment, LLST’s assistance will be much-needed.

Nezahat Cihan, Chief Executive of the London Legal Support Trust said; “It has been a difficult decision to postpone the 16th London Legal Walk, but based on the available advice this is the best option. Public health is everyone’s concern and we do not want to put the thousands of participants who walk at risk. We are grateful for the ongoing support and understanding of our sponsors and participants at this difficult time.”

“The need for our funding was already growing. This is now compounded as we are expecting an increase in Emergency Funding applications from advice agencies as they deal with the impact of the current Covid-19 situation. The fundraising from the Walk will be more critical than ever.

It will be wonderful to see teams from the judiciary, firms, chambers, and beyond walk with us on October 5th.”
