LexisNexis launches dedicated energy sector platform

LexisNexisLexisNexis UK, a leading provider of content and technology solutions, has launched LexisPSL Energy, the market’s first online resource dedicated to lawyers advising in the context of the energy sector.

The groundbreaking Energy module is part of LexisPSL’s wider strategy to provide lawyers with guidance arranged by sector as well as by practice area.

LexisPSL Energy helps lawyers get to the right answer more quickly, through providing collated content across the breadth of the energy sector. Coverage spans the electricity and upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas arenas, including materials relevant to conventional and unconventional oil and gas, flexible capacity, renewable energy, nuclear energy, energy networks, and energy supply.

The structure of the platform recognises the wide range of contexts in which legal advice relating to the energy sector is given, with over 50 subtopics structured around project type, regulatory structures, and practice area providing a user-friendly way into content for all users.

Uniquely, the LexisPSL Energy subtopics curate over 200 bespoke practice notes, precedents, checklists, toolkits/trackers, overviews and Q&As alongside legislation; links to industry codes, rules, licences and guidance; and news updates and analysis from external legal experts and LexisPSL legal teams.

Nicola Johns, Head of LexisPSL’s Built Environment group, said: “We are listening to our customers and innovating. As sector focus becomes the most prevalent way of doing business, lawyers need to arm themselves with sector knowledge to stay up to date and understand their clients’ businesses.”

Elaborating on Johns’ comment, Matthew Brown, Energy Lawyer for LexisPSL Energy, explained: “The energy sector continues to evolve at a remarkable pace. Technological progress and the political focus inherent to the sector means that lawyers need to be well equipped to advise clients in the context of rapidly evolving regulation, transaction types and challenges. LexisPSL Energy provides lawyers with a unique platform that gives them rapid access to the primary resources and robust and forward looking practical guidance that they need.”

Other sectors covered by LexisPSL include TMT, Information Law, Insurance and Reinsurance and Life Sciences.

LexisNexis launched LexisPSL in the UK in 2005 to provide the legal profession with practical guidance that would complement the global company’s long-established legal resource, LexisLibrary.
