LexisNexis launches Context Expert Analytics, software that uses AI-driven technology to help lawyers quickly identify the right expert

LexisNexis, a leading global provider of legal intelligence and analytics, has today launched Context Expert Analytics, a powerful new platform that makes the identification and selection of experts easier and more effective.  Context Expert Analytics is the latest in the evolution of LexisNexis Applied Legal Intelligence – technology solutions which use deep analytics to enable data-driven law, helping lawyers to work smarter and faster.

Context Expert Analytics is the UK’s largest AI-driven database of experts.  Powered by combining the UK’s largest collection of case law – over 600K cases, with the 16 million author profiles from Elsevier’s abstract and citation database, Context Expert Analytics can offer a detailed and unrivalled validation of experts. Lawyers can instantly find experts who have experience giving opinion in court proceedings.

When a case or decision hangs on the testimony of an expert witness – their robust subject knowledge or experience isn’t enough.  The more legal teams know about their performance, the better the chance of success.  Context Expert Analytics makes it fast and easy to complete comprehensive due diligence on experts.  There is no other database that offers instant access to a list of experts with analytics and statistics on the outcome, information on the hiring party, number of cases per year and total number of cases.

The AI-driven engine uses natural language processing to review and summarise judicial commentary.  It also presents a clear sentiment analysis for these comments – making it simple to rank experts by their actual impact.

The expert database is updated within 24 hours of cases being available in LexisLibrary and contains more than 50 years of case law history.  With this rich data at their fingertips, lawyers can instantly delve into the details and read exactly what was said in court and read the relevant parts of the judgment.

Built around the needs of lawyers, Context Expert Analytics allows users to add notes safely and confidentially, efficiently sharing knowledge across teams.  It is possible to see at a glance who instructed whom and what success has been achieved – all whilst remaining compliant with data protection best practice.

Leona Blanco, National Knowledge and Information Manager at Clyde & Co commented that “Context Expert Analytics is the perfect tool for quite a few of our practice area teams.  It helps them to identify the relevant expert for the successful outcome of their cases.  It provides instant and timely data showcasing live links to cases in which experts appeared, allowing our lawyers to assess the expert and their treatment by the courts.”

LexisNexis Director of Solutions, Dani McCormick, explained, “Context Expert Analytics brings unique data and insights to the challenge of identifying and selecting experts.  It helps lawyers to work smarter and more effectively.”

“At LexisNexis, we have a phenomenal database of legal intelligence.  We are always looking for new and innovative ways to surface information in a way that adds value to lawyers”, McCormick continued. “Our beta clients love how easily they can find new experts and, in particular, how simple it is to validate their expertise and understand how they performed under pressure in court.”
