Lexis Draft transforms the way that Harper Macleod draft documents

LexisNexisHarper Macleod selects Lexis Draft, the multi-award winning toolbar, to help save time on documentation – while delivering a higher standard of service

LexisNexis UK [1], a leading provider of content and technology solutions, today announced that Harper Macleod, one of Scotland’s leading full service law firms, has deployed Lexis Draft to help them reduce the time they spend on drafting, while increasing the quality of their documents.

Lexis Draft is a multi-award winning toolbar that combines LexisNexis content with innovative workflow tools, including advanced proofreading, citation checking, as well as document automation services. Its capabilities integrate seamlessly within Microsoft Word, providing users with an intuitive experience that drives efficiency along the drafting process.

Harper Macleod is now able to deliver as good a standard of service, if not better, in less time, keeping both their customers – and their own people – happier. They are able to check documents from other lawyers too, giving them the option to send back a document with errors before they fully review it, saving additional time.

“There’ve only been two times that I can recall where we’ve introduced a product that made people smile. One was the iPhone – the other was Lexis Draft,” said Partner Donald Munro, Head of Corporate at Harper Macleod. “The training and support from LexisNexis was fundamental. They spent a lot of time on-site with us. We had training, but they also spent time going around and visiting individual fee earners to deal with their queries. I think that face-to-face interaction and support was pivotal.”

Paul Macdonald, a Solicitor in Harper Macleod’s Corporate team, commented, “Every document that I draft will be run through Lexis Draft before it’s sent out. If the average document is ten pages long, it probably saves me about half an hour per document. And I probably send out ten to fifteen documents a week. So it does save a lot of time, which we can then pass on to the client.”

Lexis Draft is trusted by more than 200 firms from independent lawyers to the Magic Circle as their drafting tool of choice. It has won multiple awards for technical innovation (SIIA CODiE Awards) and legal innovation (British Legal Awards) in the UK and around the globe.

“It has been a pleasure for us to work with Harper Macleod on the deployment of Lexis Draft”, says Ita Sherlock, Head of Drafting and Productivity Solutions at LexisNexis. “This innovative law firm has been eager to grasp the value of Lexis Draft for them in terms of quality and cost savings. We are delighted that they are already seeing the incredible results that Lexis Draft delivers”.
