Despite the current unpredictable macroeconomic conditions that we operate in, the commercial property market in Q1 2025 has remained stable and resilient.
However, uncertainty breeds caution. This is illustrated by a 23% decline in large scale planning applications in England and Wales in Q1 ‘25 compared to the same period last year.
Commercial environmental due diligence activity, environmental search volumes, and small-scale planning applications were all comparable with Q1 ‘24 levels.
Other key headlines for Q1 ’25 include:
- Large scale commercial planning application volumes were down 23% in Q1 ‘25 vs Q1 ‘24.
- Small scale planning application volumes remained stable, up 1% in Q1 ‘25 vs Q1 ‘24.
- Search order volumes in England & Wales were down 15% compared to Q1 ‘24, while in Scotland they were up 11% against the same period.
