JNP Legal has migrated to BigHand Workflow Management Professional Plus in the cloud, improving how it manages support work across offices in Merthyr Tydfil, Pontyclun, Cardiff and Nelson. The move from its existing on-premises system has helped the firm simplify delegation, reduce infrastructure maintenance, and support more consistent working practices.
For regional and mid-sized law firms, the ability to deliver a responsive, reliable service is central to remaining competitive. JNP Legal’s approach focused on strengthening the everyday processes behind that service, aligning its technology with how its teams work, and creating room for continued improvement.

“The move to BigHand Cloud has provided a modern, scalable platform that supports the way we work today, while giving us the flexibility and resilience needed for the future,” said Cairan Trotman, Operational and Finance Manager at JNP Legal.
The project addresses a challenge familiar to many firms: making work delegation consistent while accommodating different working preferences. BigHand’s latest Legal Workflow Leadership Report found that 67% of firms still rely partly or wholly on direct email for delegation. Only 21% primarily use a structured workflow or request system.
JNP Legal’s move to the cloud provided an opportunity to review its existing setup and ensure it matched the needs of a regional practice. Working with BigHand, the firm reviewed its teams, departmental folders, and workflows, removed redundant processes, and rebuilt the structure around how work moves through the business.
Workflow Management Professional Plus brings dictated work and task-based requests into a single environment. Lawyers can continue using their preferred approach to delegation, while support teams have a clearer, more consistent way to manage incoming work across office locations.
Form functionality became an important part of that approach. Dynamic forms can now be configured and reused to support several departments across the firm; some are available across all workflows, and others are reserved for where a department-specific approach makes more sense.
“The project was delivered smoothly, with minimal disruption to our users, and has strengthened our commitment to providing efficient and client-focused legal services,” added Trotman.
JNP Legal’s experience offers a practical example for regional firms looking to strengthen service delivery while keeping technology proportionate to their needs. By refining an established approach to work allocation and moving to a cloud platform, the firm has created a more resilient foundation for its people and clients.
