Increase in property searches expected as ‘fracking’ review concludes close watch required

Property search provider SearchFlow [1] has welcomed last week’s publication of the review into hydraulic fracturing (fracking) by the Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Richard Hinton, business development director at SearchFlow, said there are still further issues which require consideration and many unanswered questions as regards the impact on properties within the vicinity.

“House buyers are ever more concerned as to the environmental factors that can affect their enjoyment of a property,” he said. “Any potential blight that can be investigated has a value to house buyers. ‘Fracking’ will surely fall into this category and we would expect there to be a demand for searches that identified areas either licensed or which otherwise are suitable for this purpose.”
