Have conveyancers’ needs changed? OneSearch launch survey

OneSearch Direct LogoOneSearch, the largest local search data company in the UK, has launched an industry-wide survey to determine the needs of conveyancers, as firms recalibrate after the first of two SLDT deadlines.

According to Rightmove’s latest House Price Index, “higher prices combined with a lack of fresh choice coming to market are reducing some buyers’ ability or desire to move, and while we expect the market to remain robust, there are early signs of a slackening in the incredible pace of activity that we’ve seen over the last year.”

The pandemic has created an unpredictable economy. From 1st July employers will need to start contributing to the cost of keeping staff furloughed; a scheme due to close at the end of September. In addition, coronavirus mortgage payment holidays have ended, with only those who applied before 31st March able to access them. The Government’s 95% mortgage guarantee scheme is now in place to help more prospective homebuyers get on the property ladder and support the housing market, however, this runs the risk of further inflating house prices and causing the market to overheat.

Lidia Quinlan, Head of Sales, OneSearch, comments:

“After a stressful and relentless year, we hope conveyancers are able to take a breather, spend time with loved ones, and recharge your batteries. The market is showing signs of slowing, but it’s certainly not ground to a halt. The supply/demand gap is widening, and we believe law firms will soon be looking at ways to remain competitive without compromising on the stellar service you have all been providing during these hectic times.

“We know you’re still extremely busy and may not yet be making preparations for a post-SDLT holiday conveyancing landscape. To assess conveyancers’ needs and see how (or if) they have changed, we kindly ask for a few minutes of your time to fill in our very short survey. We want to hear from you so we can benchmark conveyancing standards and analyse your priorities and perks preferences.”

The survey is open to everyone who works within the conveyancing industry and will determine where priorities lie when it comes to search providers, value added services, and pricing.
