The Institute of Legal Finance & Management (ILFM) is hosting a free specialist breakfast event on Wednesday 10 September 2025, tailored exclusively for those working in compliance and financial oversight roles at law firms. COFAs, Deputy COFAs, their line managers and those supporting COFA responsibilities are all invited to join us for this timely and practical morning session.
The event takes place at the Royal Air Force Club in central London. It will open at 9am with informal networking and a light breakfast, followed by our fantastic speaker line-up starting at 10am.
The COFA Confessional
Our first session, “The COFA Confessional” will be led by Nigel Wilson and David Thorpe of Financial Eye. Attendees will benefit from honest insights and practical advice drawn from their experience supporting COFAs across the profession. There’s also the opportunity to ask questions anonymously in advance, allowing those attending to get real answers to real challenges, “off the record” but with genuine value.
This is not just another generic compliance talk. It’s a space for those directly responsible for compliance with the SRA’s Accounts Rules to gain clarity on complex issues, understand what’s tripping up other firms, and hear how others are solving them.
Also featuring BBC regular Jonathan Pratt
We are also excited to welcome Jonathan Pratt FGA FRICS, a well-known and highly regarded auctioneer and fine art specialist. With over 30 years in the antiques industry and regular appearances on BBC’s Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip, Jonathan will share how law firms can enhance the probate and insurance services they offer clients through a better understanding of valuations and working with auctioneers.
This COFA breakfast, kindly sponsored by Key Business Professions Limited, is a great example of the practical and relevant knowledge-sharing the ILFM provides for the legal finance and compliance community. Spaces are strictly limited and only open to professionals who hold COFA responsibilities or support those who do. Supplier or sales tickets are not available.
While this event is open to both members and non-members, it reflects the wider value ILFM membership brings to those in legal finance. From expert-led training and industry-recognised qualifications, to practical guidance, compliance resources and a professional network that understands the unique pressures of legal practice management, ILFM members benefit from year-round support designed to strengthen law firm operations and individual careers.
For anyone working in or managing legal finance and compliance roles, this event is a chance to experience first-hand what ILFM members gain access to throughout the year.
