Jodi Newton joins Hudgell Solicitors

Medical negligence claims specialist Jodi Newton says joining Hudgell Solicitors [1] is a perfect move for her given its reputation for handling serious litigation cases and supporting people who suffer life-changing injuries.

With 16 years’ experience as a fully qualified solicitor, Ms Newton joins the expanding Hudgell team in London having managed her own large caseload of serious medical negligence cases, specialising in birth negligence, gynaecological injuries and misdiagnosis claims.

It has seen her represent families whose children are left with injuries such as cerebral palsy and Erb’s palsy due to errors at birth, requiring long-term packages of care, support and compensation given the life-long injuries caused.

Ms Newton also has significant experience handling fatal misdiagnosis cases involving children, cancer patients and missed blood clots and pulmonary embolisms, whilst she also has considerable experience in handling serious personal injury claims, work she will continue at her new firm.

She joins Hudgell Solicitors, a Legal 500 ranked law firm for its medical negligence and personal injury expertise, as its work in and around London and the Home Counties grows rapidly, with the firm making a number of high-profile recruitments in recent times.

Ms Newton believes the direction being taken by her new employers is a match for her own ambitions.

“I am passionate about providing victims of serious medical negligence, many of whom are left with life-changing injuries, the very best legal support. With that in mind I am thrilled to be joining a large team which includes many highly-respected solicitors across the industry,

“Such cases require years of work to achieve the best possible financial and rehabilitative outcomes for my clients, something I have a good track record of doing.

“It has been the satisfaction of being able to provide such important support to people in times of need that has steered me to focus more on this type of work as my career has progressed. It fits very much with the type of work Hudgell Solicitors has increasingly focused on in recent years.

“As a firm I have been aware of Hudgell Solicitors’ growth and success, so this is an exciting opportunity for me and one I believe will help me further develop my work.

“I am also looking forward to working with chief executive Amanda Stevens, as she is an inspirational figurehead in the industry.”

Solicitor has experience of running claims departments in 16 year career

Ms Newton started her career with Bolt Burdon Kemp, where she spent five years before joining Riaa Barker Gillette in London’s West End.

There she headed up the personal injury and clinical negligence department, an experience which saw her develop key relationships with medical professionals during 11 years with the firm, and establish a reputation for great client care.

“I cultivated many strong relationships with doctors and medical experts who sent people to me because patients had come to them unhappy with the previous care they had experienced at the hands of others,” she said.

“This is an important side to my work and I am privileged that such eminent medical professionals trust in me to take over care of the legal issues on behalf of their patients who have suffered due to neglect by previous doctors.

“Most important though is caring for our clients. People come to us looking for the best advice, but it is a difficult time for them. I am passionate about getting justice for them and I work hard to make the litigation process as smooth as possible for them, whilst retaining the aim of achieving the best possible damages settlement on their behalf.”

Addition of Jodi Newton adds further experience to Hudgell Solicitors’ medical negligence team

Amanda Stevens, chief executive of Hudgell Solicitors, said: “We are always looking to add highly experienced solicitors who have led many serious medical negligence cases to our team, and that makes Jodi a fantastic addition to our London office.

“Jodi has great experience not only in handling serious medical negligence injuries, but in running claims departments herself, an attribute which will only further strengthen our work and development in London.

“She comes with a reputation as someone who has strong professional relationships and the respect of medical experts and counsel, but most importantly a solicitor with a track record of securing excellent financial settlements for her clients who appreciate her personal, considerate and compassionate support through what are usually very difficult times.”

Ms Newton also has significant experience in handling claims involving negligent spinal surgery, organ transplant surgery, nursing errors, claims against fertility clinics, plastic surgery, and dentistry, and is looking forward to the next stage of her career.

“I have always had a great passion for the job and the important work we do supporting people who have suffered injury,” she said.

“Joining Hudgell Solicitors will open the door for me to bring my skills and experience to use on more high-value cases where people need long-term legal support.
