‘Excellent – as always’: the verdict’s in on our latest CPD event

Thames Water Property SearchesCommercial conveyancing was the theme of the Thames Water Property Searches [1] day-long conference, which took place at Chelsea Old Town Hall on Thursday 20 April. A total of 64 delegates came to hear the four speakers talk about a wide variety of pertinent topics from negotiating break option terms for tenants to changes in drainage legislation.

As always, the event was very well received with lots of positive feedback. “An excellent conference, as always!” said one delegate. “A very useful event – thank you,” said another.

The morning consisted of three sessions. The first – led by Land Data CEO Jan Boothroyd – focused on updates to various local authority searches as well as their commercial applications.

The second was delivered by Philip Hill, Senior Account Manager at Landmark and Sally Redman, Consultancy Team Leader at Argyll Environmental. They gave a talk on the importance of selecting the right report for the right transaction, while giving the audience tips on how to simplify their search packs by using RiskView Commercial, a new product that includes four searches in one.

Finally, our very own Jason Harper delved into the world of SuDS and discussed changes in drainage legislation, after which delegates had the opportunity to do lots of networking.

Then, to finish off the day, Mark Shelton from CPM Law Training led a session on negotiating break options (often a minefield for tenants) and applying for landlord’s consent under commercial leases.
