Elite Insurance announces new senior appointment

Master Elite Insurance Logo_(green)Expanding legal expenses and general insurer Elite Insurance today announced the appointment of Andrew Stone as commercial and technical director. Stone will also be appointed to the main board of the company.

Amongst other things, Stone is to head up the motor book of business whilst overseeing special projects, such as, Solvency II.  He will be based in Elite’s Gibraltar office but will also spend time in the various UK offices.

Stone brings with him a wealth of experience in the insurance industry with his most recent role being director and chief operating officer for Enterprise Insurance, also in Gibraltar.

CEO of Elite, Jason Smart, said he was ‘delighted’ with the new appointment and was expecting ‘great things’ from Stone.

How best to achieve independent regulation under the Legal Services Act?

Independent regulation gives confidence to consumers, providers, investors and society as a whole that legal services work in the public interest and support the rule of law. The Legal Services Act 2007 does not require all approved regulators to be structurally separate from representative bodies. Instead, the Legal Services Board is required by the Act to produce internal governance rules (IGR) which apply the principle of regulatory independence in legal service regulation. We are currently running a consultation on the IGR which continues until 9 February.
