Select Legal’s ISO 27001 Information Security Certification

LAWFUSION Select LegalBy Legal Futures’ Associate Select Legal Systems [1]

Select Legal Systems Limited [2], one of the legal profession’s most popular providers of software for law firms, today announced that it has, once again, passed its ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Certification surveillance audit [3].

ISO 27001 certification [3] is a significant differentiator for Select Legal Systems, authors of the LAWFUSION law firm practice management software system [4], as only a very small handful of software suppliers in the legal IT market have achieved the standard.

ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Certification [3] is one of the most widely recognised information security standards, globally. Achieving certification requires a company to satisfy independent auditors that their business is systematic and rigorous in its approach to managing sensitive company and customer information. Certified organisations must be independently audited on a continuous basis for a three year period following initial certification to ensure their commitment to the standard is being upheld and requirements are still being met. Select Legal Systems Limited has once again, demonstrated that at a company-wide level it has good, solid processes in place for robust information security management.

After a thorough two-day audit, with two auditors, the Directors of Select are pleased to have achieved zero non-conformities, and to hear that the auditors are so satisfied with the steadfastness of Select’s information security management that they have been able to award the company a 3-year certification this time round, which means Select will next be reviewed in 2023.

Mike Craven, Co-Owner / Director of Select Legal Systems said, “Hundreds of UK law firms put their trust in us every day because we offer first class software but also because we have shown commitment to the highest levels of information security management. Law firms recognise we have gone the extra mile by putting in place the robust controls  required by this strict standard through our technology, our people as well as our processes to identify and eliminate security risks.

“The difference is whilst other software suppliers may have chosen third-party ISO 27001 certified datacentres to host their cloud-based practice management solutions, the fact that we have achieved the certification ourselves, additionally and independently at company level as well having an ISO 27001 datacentre, takes our information security management credentials to a higher level. We urge law firms looking for new software not to take information security at face value, but to consider the importance of their software supplier being able to tick both boxes.”
