Elite Insurance is proud to confirm the role the company has played alongside Hillary Meredith in the recent campaign for the Ministry of Defence to provide a framework of support for servicemen and women facing judicial process.
In recent years there has been considerable controversy surrounding the investigation of former and serving military personnel by the Iraq Historical Allegations Team (IHAT). Indeed, many historic allegations have been re-opened, despite the service personnel involved having been previously exonerated.
This has been the subject of much criticism with many service personnel severely affected by the investigations which have been conducted over many years and at substantial public expense. The situation has been exacerbated by the denial of basic civil rights to these service personnel, rights that civilians are entitled to as a matter of course.
Hilary Meredith Solicitors have been instrumental in pursuing this matter on behalf of these military personnel and, after considerable efforts, has achieved confirmation from the MoD that situation must be rectified.
Elite Insurance were pleased to be asked to provide After the Event (ATE) insurance cover to support the proposed legal proceedings on behalf of our former and serving military personnel. CEO Jason Smart said, “Elite is proud to have been able to contribute to this cause and to see right the men and women who risk life and limb on a daily basis to protect our nation. Our thanks and congratulations got to Hillary Meredith for their efforts in this regard.”
