CTS selected by leading Scottish firm, Thorntons, to support them on their digital transformation journey

Converge TS CTS LogoCTS, the legal sector’s provider of cloud and IT services specifically shaped for law, are delighted to announce that they have been chosen by one of Scotland’s largest full-service law firms, Thorntons, to provide their Managed Hybrid Cloud platform. This unique solution affords ultimate flexibility to the firm, enabling them to freely reallocate resources between private and public cloud, delivering an innovative, agile approach that is always aligned to the firm’s IT roadmap.

This hybrid cloud solution will see Thorntons move away from their current split of on-premise equipment and co-located datacentre and will give the firm more control over their cloud landscape. Leveraging both CTS’ private cloud and Microsoft Azure public cloud means that Thorntons can reap the benefits of both, embracing innovative new technologies, whilst  controlling and protecting sensitive data and meeting client needs.

With a history that can be traced back to 1857, and 13 offices across Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Angus, Fife, and Perth, Thorntons deliver high quality practical legal advice with exceptional levels of client care to individuals and businesses alike, supporting them to deal with life’s challenges.

Central to their strategic plan of accelerating growth across Scotland’s central belt, Thorntons recently merged with Edinburgh-based firm, Stuart & Stuart WS, with their new expanded business totalling 564 people, of which 67 are partners. This, combined with their recent decision to implement  Thomson Reuters’ 3E practice management system, their continued use of LexisNexis’ VisualFiles, and their newly-formed partnership with CTS, Thorntons are progressing their digital transformation strategy in order to improve client service delivery and experience in line with their company values.

Sarah Blair, IT Director at Thorntons, said: “From the very beginning, CTS took the time to truly understand our firm’s future business objectives, and carefully curated a solution that would support us to achieve our goals. As the firm continues to expand and develop, it was vital to us to have a platform in place that could grow and adapt with us – the flexibility of CTS’ hybrid cloud solution stood out and was a key driver behind our partnership decision.”

“CTS’ legal sector specialism provides us with a service that is uniquely customised to align with how our firm operates, backed by legal IT experts providing advice and guidance to enable Thorntons to drive our digital transformation forward, as we look to adopt new technologies and enhance the way we deliver service to our clients.” Sarah continued.
