CILEx Regulation’s Transparency Rules

CILEx RegulationCILEx Regulation has today published its consultation on the information it will require its regulated firms to publish online and provide to consumers.

It believes that the transparency requirements will deliver the information that consumers need and value when choosing a legal service provider, as well as help promote all the services a firm offers.

CILEx Regulation is the latest of the legal regulators to release details of their plans to address the requirements highlighted in the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) 2016 report that found a lack of information and price transparency was hindering competition in the legal market.

Helen Whiteman, CILEx Regulation CEO, said: “We know our firms take pride in delivering excellent legal work and client service. We want our rules to allow those firms we regulate to present information in a clear and simple way that consumers can access and engage with. We have applied our principles-based approach, rather than be prescriptive, and will provide guidance to support firms through this transitional period which will ultimately improve and enhance the way in which firms and consumers interact with one another.”

The consultation survey closes on 3 August 2018.
