CILEx Regulation opens door to alternative business structures (ABS)

CILEx RegulationCILEx Regulation is pleased to announce that we can now authorise and regulate firms with non-lawyers in their ownership and management. These are known as alternative business structures (ABSs).

As well as offering consumers more choice, setting up as an ABS can offer new and existing firms more flexibility. Law firms can involve people who bring additional experience and skills, while firms in other sectors can set up a standalone legal business where legal services complement their core offering.

CILEx Regulation’s Entity Manager, David Pope, said: “We’re delighted to be able to extend our services into the ABS market. Our community of thriving firms shows the value of our rigorous yet supportive approach, which helps make sure firms are ready for business from day one. We look forward to hearing from startups and existing firms looking for a supportive and responsive regulator.”
