Charity news: Children In Need, christmas foodbanks and blood donations

Quill [1]By Legal Futures’ Associate Quill [1]

With Children In Need just around the corner, it’s time for a charity update about planned fundraising efforts for national and local causes.

If you’re familiar with our charitable work, you’ll know that Children In Need makes a regular appearance in our calendar. 2018 is no exception. We’re planning our usual bake sale (we love cake!) and all-you-can-eat buffet (in fact, we just love food generally!) for our staff. There may also be a raffle for other businesses – neighbouring companies, clients, suppliers and partners – to get involved too.

We’ll post updates on our social channels when we know more, so make sure you keep an eye on our Facebook [2] and Twitter [3] pages. We’ll also publish our final fundraised amount after all the Pudsey fun which will obviously go a long way towards changing disadvantaged and poorly children’s lives across the UK.

Christmas is only a few weeks away (ten, to be exact!) as well, so we’re holding collections of food, toiletries, toys and gifts on behalf of regional appeals for those facing financial difficulties during the festive season.

Finally, we’ve held another group blood donation session today for eligible staff based in our Manchester office. On this subject, our very own Steven Shaw (photographed here), who’s been a Legal Cashier at Quill for over 16 years, has recently pledged his 25th blood donation over a 9-year period.

Steven comments: “I’m so pleased to have received my ‘I’m a 25 donor’ certificate and badge from NHS Blood and Transplants. With Quill arranging donations during working hours, giving blood is so easy.

“The NHS has introduced a new scheme whereby donors are notified where and how their donated blood’s been used. This is a nice touch as it really drives home the importance of giving blood which directly benefits sick or injured people whose lives are literally saved as a result of blood transfusions.

“It’s such a worthwhile endeavour and great that Quill gives all employees paid time off work to do so. I’ve today completed my 27th donation!”
