Burcher Jennings ‘sends clients to jail’ to kick off year of Headway fundraising

Burcher JenningsLeading costs, pricing and funding consultants Burcher Jennings [1] have kicked off a year as the “baton holders” for Headway, the brain injury charity, with a “Budgets, J-codes and E-billing” training seminar for clients in the grounds of HM Prison Styal.

All proceeds from the seminar will be donated to Headway, and the innovative prisoner rehabilitation charity The Clink will also benefit, as the venue for the event is The Clink restaurant at HMP Styal, where catering is provided by female prisoners training for catering qualifications to help them secure hospitality work on their release.

As well as providing a dual charitable benefit, the training seminar will allow costs lawyers attending to update their skills and accrue CPD credits.

The event is one of a year-long series of Burcher Jennings fundraising events for Headway, with the firm having taken on the challenge of maximising fundraising before handing on the baton to another firm.

Michelle Barron, Head of Operations at Burcher Jennings, said:

“Our work frequently brings us in to contact with the consequences of catastrophic brain injuries, and we’re well aware of the amazing role the Headway team play in supporting people with life after brain injury. The whole firm is excited to be embarking on a year of fundraising events to support Headway’s fantastic work. By hosting the event at The Clink we’re also supporting prisoner rehabilitation – so although we’re ‘sending our clients to jail’, they’ll emerge after the training session with updated costs skills, CPD points and a hot breakfast inside them!”

As this year’s Headway baton holders, the team in Burcher Jennings nationwide network of offices from Carlisle to Truro will be looking to fill the year with a wide range of other fundraising events, with plans already including:

Michelle Barron, Head of Operations at Burcher Jennings, added:

“Throughout the year, we’ll be raising money for a fantastic cause, raising awareness of Headway’s important work, and having a thoroughly enjoyable time.”
