Burcher Jennings , the national legal consultancy, is pleased to announce the opening of its new Bristol office, following increasing demand for its services across the region.
Opening on 1 March 2016, the office will provide services in respect of costs, pricing and funding to the legal communities in Bristol and the surrounding areas.
This expansion by Burcher Jennings is aimed at ensuring that law firms in the South West have wider access to services that are now in high demand following significant changes in the legal industry, such as the Jackson Reforms.
The new office will be led by Bristol-based practice manager Melanie Homersham, a costs lawyer with over 15 years’ experience in costs litigation.
Melanie has a strong legal background, having graduated with a law degree, and started her career preparing Bill of Costs across a broad spectrum of areas including personal injury, clinical negligence, professional negligence, family, criminal and Special Educational Needs Tribunal Appeals.
Melanie was involved in setting up, and managed for seven years, the defendant cost department of a major Bristol firm, and also worked in-house at a legal expense insurer before joining Burcher Jennings.

The Bristol launch comes after Burcher Jennings’ recent office openings in Manchester and Truro, taking the company’s office footprint to six UK-wide; other locations include London, Carlisle and Exeter.
The launch follows a year of significant growth for Burcher Jennings, during which it launched the Burcher Jennings Funding for Growth scheme – the first of its kind in the industry – and adding further offices in Exeter and London.
In late November 2015, Burcher Jennings received the Supporting the Industry Award at the Modern Law Awards 2015, which recognises businesses that have demonstrated significant support to the legal sector over the past year.
