Burcher Jennings applies some Budget Intelligence

Burcher Jennings200 [1]Leading legal pricing and costs consultants Burcher Jennings [2] have unveiled a costs budgeting solution for law firms.  Burcher Jennings Budget Intelligence uses proven software to produce accurate, Form H compliant budgets, but requires no new IT investment or systems training for law firm staff.

As Martyn Jennings, Burcher Jennings CEO explains:

“Effective costs budgeting should be at the forefront of practitioners’ minds. Thanks to our team of experts, we can help law firms prepare these budgets, without turning their existing processes and systems upside down to adopt a so called automated solution.  Often ‘automated’ actually means that firms’ own staff take on the work which costs experts should be doing and, because they don’t do it all the time, it takes longer than it should.”

Burcher Jennings approach uses its highly experienced costs lawyers to interface between law firms and the sector-leading specialised software used to generate budgets and bills of costs. This permits flexibility for the firm and exploits the technical expertise of the Burcher Jennings team.

How does Burcher Jennings Budget Intelligence work for my law firm?

Burcher Jennings Budget Intelligence is flexible enough to work with your existing case file – hard copy or electronic  – together with answers to a straightforward questionnaire about assumptions.  The Burcher Jennings team, not yours, inputs this data to generate the Form H compatible detailed estimate of incurred and estimated costs.

Burcher Jennings then attempt to agree the budget with the other side.  If necessary, they can attend the Costs Management Conference (CMC) with you or on your behalf.  They provide reports from the CMC, including revised or approved budgets and any comments from the Judge.

A Bill of Costs is straightforward to prepare, because the existing budget is in the correct format. This is also where the team’s depth of experience can be most useful, as they can advise on areas of risk and prospects for recovery.

With regular updates to you on progress, the Burcher Jennings team can negotiate settlement of costs.

Martyn Jennings added:

“Working collaboratively with our clients allows us to tailor our service, adding our technical expertise to their intimate knowledge of their clients and cases.  We bend our approach to the needs of our customers, rather than expecting them to invest in IT, retraining staff and putting all their processes through unnecessary upheaval.

“Burcher Jennings Budget Intelligence has built-in flexibility, because every law firm and every case is different.”
