Brabners appoints Social Impact Manager after gaining B Corp re-certification

Freya Grummitt, Social Impact Manager

Leading independent law firm Brabners [1] has appointed Freya Grummitt to the newly created position of Social Impact Manager in a move that follows the firm’s recent B Corp re-certification. Freya joins the firm, bringing 15 years of experience in delivering responsible business and social impact initiatives across consultancy, public sector and corporate environments.

The appointment supports Brabners’ long-standing social impact strategy, with Freya leading the development and delivery of the firm’s community and sustainability initiatives, embedding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) priorities across the business, strengthening impact measurement and reporting and increasing the visibility of the firm’s long-term social impact work.

The role will also create greater opportunities for clients to collaborate on shared social impact goals, creating the opportunity for even stronger, more meaningful partnerships that extend way beyond the traditional legal services. With many organisations placing an increased focus on sustainability and community impact.

Recertification & net zero plans

Following its recent recertification as a B Corp, the firm has now set another ambitious goal and has committed to becoming a net zero business by 2040 – ten years before the UN’s target.

Achieving this goal by reducing emissions even further, supporting community regeneration and embedding sustainability into its operations, policies and planning, will form a key part of Freya’s role.

Making the difference

Both Freya and Brabners see delivering meaningful social impact as integral to achieving a broader ambition to ‘Make The Difference’ – with a real focus on translating this mission into action.

The firm has reduced waste by 47 tonnes and paper usage by 3.1m sheets annually since 2019; has reduced its gender pay gap; offers two paid days of volunteering for each colleague every year; and achieved its ambition of offering 365 days of pro bono work last year.

In addition, The Brabners Foundation has raised and donated over £250,000 to local and national charities and good causes.

Freya Grummitt, Social Impact Manager at Brabners said: “Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about helping organisations create meaningful, lasting change. For Brabners, social impact isn’t treated as a separate initiative or a box-ticking exercise. It’s embedded within the firm’s culture, values and mission to make the difference.

“There is already a huge amount of positive work taking place across the business, from community partnerships and volunteering to pro bono support and colleague-led initiatives. I’m excited to help build on those strong foundations, bringing greater visibility and strategic focus to our social impact efforts.

“One of my main aims for Brabners is to combine robust impact measurement with the stories and experiences behind the numbers, because both are essential to understanding real-world impact. By working closely with clients, colleagues and community partners, we’re going to deliver even more meaningful outcomes and the ability to demonstrate the difference we can make together.”

Robert White, Chief Executive Officer at Brabners said: “Freya’s appointment marks an exciting step forward in our commitment to creating lasting positive impact. As a purpose-led business, we have long been committed to using our influence, expertise and resources to demonstrate that business can bring about positive and lasting change.

“Her appointment reflects our ambition to go even further. From advancing social mobility and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups, to supporting our journey towards net zero and building partnerships with clients to maximise our combined positive impact, we will ensure that social impact remains embedded in every aspect of our business. Freya’s expertise, passion and collaborative approach make her ideally placed to help us build even greater momentum.”
