The biggest fundraising event in the legal calendar is fast approaching and the support from the legal community is evident as there are now nearly 500 teams signed up for the London Legal Walk on Monday 18th October.
Organised by the London Legal Support Trust (LLST), the Walk is back as an in-person event starting at Carey Street and takes teams on a sponsored 10km route through Central London, raising much needed funds for frontline free legal advice agencies in London and the South-East. This year, there are three routes to choose from, all taking in some of our capital’s most beautiful landmarks.
The 2021 Walk is highly anticipated after such a difficult and uncertain 18 months for all in the free legal advice sector. The funds raised from the event contribute significantly towards the survival of many of the agencies that support people with issues including debt, homelessness, domestic violence and employment problems.
The London Legal Walk is generously supported by the Law Society of England & Wales and President, Stephanie Boyce, is one of the lead walkers. She commented, “I. Stephanie Boyce, look forward to seeing you all at the London Legal Walk on October 18th. For the first time in over two years the whole of the legal profession will be able to walk together (albeit maintaining a bit of distance) to raise funds for free legal advice charities. Over the intervening two years the number of people needing legal help, particularly with debt and benefits, has risen dramatically. So may I urge everyone to raise as much as possible on their fundraising web pages to support the charities that help people in crisis.”
Thousands have already signed up to walk in central London along one of the usual routes, with many more who are working from home also taking part in their local area as part of the event.
