IDR: Tackling Coronavirus Fraud

On the 16 March 2021 at 4pm, IDR will be hosting an event on Tackling Coronavirus Fraud. Speakers will include IDR members;

  • Kevin Humphreys, Tax and Forensic Accountancy specialist. Kevin was former Principal Officer, Financial Investigations in the Economic Crime Command of the National Crime Agency (NCA) and was part of NCA Command. At the NCA he specialised for 10 years in Proceeds of Crime Act (“POCA”) Civil Recovery and Tax investigations.
  • Liz Coleman, Tax and Forensic Accountancy specialist. Liz is a former fully trained tax inspector who worked in Special Compliance Office before leaving in 2000 to assist with the defence of clients subject to tax investigations including Code of Practice 9 and criminal prosecutions.
  • Stuart McDonald MC, a corporate intelligence and investigations expert. Stuart is a decorated former Army officer who transitioned into the financial sector before helping to establish Matrix Intelligence. He specialises in asset tracing, fraud and complex investigations.

Topics covered will include fraud relating to Coronavirus Grants, The Furlough Scheme and The Coronavirus Loan Scheme (Bounce Back Loans).

Target audience: The event is aimed at Criminal and Insolvency Barristers and Solicitors as well as Insolvency Practitioners and Accountants. It will raise awareness of law enforcement’s approach to tackling Coronavirus Fraud, including, their priorities and strategy from intelligence gathering through to intervention and give options on how to settle without prosecution.
