Estate Research: Business Lasting Powers of Attorney

9th May 2023 at 12:00 pm - Online

Business Lasting Powers of Attorney (BLPA) allow business owners to protect their business. Without a BLPA their business is at risk. If they subsequently lacked mental capacity and did not have a BLPA, the bank could freeze their account, contracts or services might go unfulfilled, the business community would think twice about doing business with them. If they were a sole trader, it could put them out of business.

Estate Research are hosting a free 1-hour webinar hosted by Craig Ward of Lundie (Partner of Craybeck Law and author of ‘Lasting Powers of Attorney: A Practical Guide (4th Edition)) in which Craig will cover the topic of BLPA and advise practitioners on the importance of the document and how it protects sometimes their most important asset after passing. Craig will share his knowledge on why businesses should create a business lasting power of attorney, how to choose a business attorney and tips on drafting a BLPA. The webinar will also cover the types of business clients, a donor’s sufficient business understanding and client advice on choosing the right business LPA clause.
