SOS Connect fits Robertsons’ modernisation plans

Robertsons Solicitors is looking to the future with Legal Futures Associate and has selected SOS Connect to improve its accounting, document and practice management systems.

The Cardiff- and Barry-based law firm, which prides itself on its local and highly personal client service, also plans to customise the flexible software to meet the case management needs of different departments.

Robertsons was founded in the early 1900s. Today there are approximately 50 employees, including 11 partners. As well as residential property, which is a key area, the firm concentrates on offering local and Welsh-speaking services embracing company/commercial, remortgage, employment, family, divorce and debt recovery.

Office manager Kay Hoskins said: “The business has grown by word-of-mouth recommendations and it is our intention to keep it local and distinguish ourselves with a face-to-face service – we even call at the homes of clients.”

The switch to SOS Connect was driven by the withdrawal of support for the incumbent accounts system. IT manager Jeff English said: “We chose SOS Connect because we knew that it could be integrated with our current case management system, which we use only for residential property. We have taken that system as far as we can justify.

“However, SOS Connect offers so many additional features and customisable building blocks that it will provide a platform for us to introduce case management into more departments to improve efficiency. We plan to take a softly, softly approach to gain the support of the staff as we adopt new working practices.”

Robertsons has attended SOS’s scripting course in preparation for developing customised work flows and plans to go live with the system in October.

Kay Hoskins adds: “The close integration of SOS Connect with Outlook is a major advantage and will help people to get to grips with the system quickly. We are looking forward to having a more up-to-date and responsive accounting system and easier access to performance information.”
