Litigation Costs Services

Litigation Costs Services has evolved from the long-established specialist firm of GLCS providing full all-round costs services from inception (such as advice on retainers) through implementation (including advice on costs orders and agreements) to completion (preparation of bills of costs, negotiations and assessment hearings).

With civil, family and group litigation teams we are able to offer specialised all-round services. The firm is headed by Sue Nash, a costs lawyer with 25 years’ experience and our team of 18 fee earners includes five other costs lawyers. Clients have the assurance of knowing that regulated professionals with acknowledged experience and expertise are dealing with their cases.

We pride ourselves on the excellent relationships we enjoy with our clients which is based on our dedication to their needs – we send all our clients regular costs bulletins highlighting relevant costs cases and advising on maximising their fee income and give in-house CPD-accredited costs seminars.

We are equally proud of our reputation for innovation – bills are produced using either the market-leading costs software CostsMaster or our own bespoke ActionCost system which was designed for group actions but is equally at home with high value, complex and/or multi-party actions. We are actively working on the development of software to streamline the costs budgeting process, which is due to be introduced as part of the Jackson reforms, and to facilitate the import of clients’ data direct from their time management systems. We believe this will revolutionise the production of bills of costs and produce considerable time and costs savings for firms of all sizes.

Where are all the consumer ABSs?

time is money

Cracking the non-PI consumer legal market could be the biggest prize yet. So why, asks Simon Goldhill of Legal Futures Associate Simon Goldhill Consultancy, is everyone looking the other way?
Law is big business. According to the latest government figures, the UK market generates over £26bn per annum. Recent analyses suggest that just under half of that comes from the business and commercial sector. Of the rest, £3.5bn relates to personal injury (PI) and £1.5bn to crime. That means that the non-PI consumer legal market in the UK is worth around £8bn per annum. This is equivalent to the entire 2012 turnover of the UK’s creative, arts and entertainment services industry.
