Assure Law targets personal injury with latest acquisition

Tony Stockdale [1]

Stockdale: “Majority of our growth is organic”

Business consultancy Assure Law has bought a specialist rehabilitation service as it expands the range of services it offers to law firms.

Assure Law announced the in December and aims to greatly expand the network. This followed the purchase of shopping centre marketing operation Lawyers2You [2] in September last year.

Tony Stockdale, chairman of Assure, told Legal Futures he did not expect further acquisitions in the next six months, but another acquisition was likely before the end of the calendar year.

Simply Rehab, founded by personal injury lawyers Sandra Phillips and Terry Wilson, provides rehabilitation services to claimants and specialises in psychological help.

“Our strategy is to build a business that helps law firms of all sizes to be more successful and to increase their profitability,” Mr Stockdale said.

“The deals we have done so far have focussed on providing services to law firms, whether in generating leads or consultancy services.

“However, we are also planning to make a range of services available to firms via Assure Law to assist them in providing the highest quality service to their own clients.

“Simply Rehab has and will deal with a wide range of legal practices and a wide range of clients. Some firms may be using Assure Law for other services, others may not.”

Mr Stockdale said that if a firm was buying a package of services from Assure Law, the company may respond “on a commercial basis”, but there was no formal discount scheme.

He said that, following the latest purchase, Assure Law would have around 25 staff based in Birmingham, Manchester, London and the Wirral and with an administrative centre in Nuneaton.

“We are not expanding our services solely by acquisitions,” Mr Stockdale said. “The majority of our growth is organic.

“We have a substantial range of services and will concentrate over the next six months on building up each service, and putting a lot of effort into High Street Lawyer.”

Mr Stockdale said he would like to expand the network from 20 to around 100 or more, down from the 200 he mentioned at the end of last year.
